Fruited Brown Betty

Liberty Tree Tavern - Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom

This recipe was fairly simple even though it doesn't look like it when you read the book. Ingredients? Butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, pound cake crumbs (I made mine but you could buy one), lemon juice, and apple or cherry pie filling. I used cherry. If I made it again I would use apple. I think it would have gotten one more mickey with apple. The vanilla sauce for the top was good too, but tasted a bit to eggy for me.

3 mickeys (4 if it was apple, I just like apple better :-) )

Cucumbers Dill

Contemporary Resort Banquets - Contemporary Resort

For an appetizer, it was kind of bland. The dip needed something...maybe some sweetness. It was easy - mayonnaise, fresh dill, dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. I wouldn't take it to a party.
Sorry dill dippy, you were dippy. 2 mickeys.

Coq Au Vin

Memphis Class - The Disney Inn

I can't find any background information this restauraunt, but you can look at past posts to learn about The Disney Inn, or check out walt Dated World.

This is a fairly complicated recipe since you have to make the sauce, strain it, and remake it in a sense. Everything gets re-baked and finally served on rice. It seemed like the onions over-powered the rest of the flavor when you ate one. Nothing amazing, but better than average.
4 mickeys.

Coconut Hot Dog

Barefoot Snack Bar - Polynesian Village Resort

If you want a new spin on hot dogs, try this out! The down side? Deep fried. Not only is it greasy, but guilty :)
The batter contains beer which adds to the flavor. I used turkey dogs for me and it worked out great.
4 mickeys!

Breakfast Potatoes

Town Square Cafe, Main Street U.S.A. Magic Kingdom

A simple, easy, and fast recipe. Honestly, it's nothing amazing...it's your basic home fries. Still good though. Just potatoes, onions, butter, paprika, salt and pepper.

Scotch Eggs

Rose & Crown Pub & Dining room - EPCOT

While not the greatest picture, I had to show you the middle of the egg. It's basically a hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage, breaded, and deep fried. AKA, a heat attack on a plate. And was it good! I'm not big on regular sausage, so if I were to do it again I would use turkey sausage. The white sauce over the top was very good. 4 mickeys!

Shrimp Taiwan

Papeete Bay Verandah - Polynesian Village Resort

I was amazed how fast this recipe was! Often when you cook "Disney" you need 1-2 hours, m
aybe even more, but this was super fast, as in 15 minutes fast! Greg liked it. I ate one bite of shrimp to say I tried it, and then I picked the shrimp out. I have to confess that I made tilapia also so I would have something sort of protein for the evening. It was good, but nothing spectacular. 3 mickeys.

Deep Dish Apple Pie (with added humor)

Rose & Crown Pub & Dining Room
Farmers Market
The Land Grille Room - EPCOT

The recipe doesn't call for the mickey in the middle, but how could I resist? What it does call for is for the apple to be cut into 16 pieces, but it doesn't specify which type of apple. I used granny smiths. I also used my handy-dandy apple-peeler-corer-slicer. Yes, I have one. You can stop laughing now. I didn't buy it, I inherited it (along with some other bread tubey things I have no idea how to use). I figure if you've got, use it! It makes nice thin slices that cook up very well for an apple pie. Being the strange texture person that I am I also had to go back inside the apples and make sure that the hard part of the apple where the seeds sit was completely removed...having that hard apple part in my mouth just ruins a good pie for me. Still, it was quite the yummy pie. It had no crust recipe, so I made homemade crust (way better than frozen store ones by the way, though more time consuming). I normally am a good fluter. Not fluter as in the instrument. I took flute lessons as a child for my mom (she played it) and after 4 lessons I begged to stop because I still hadn't made a noise out of that metal object. No, I mean fluting as in making the edges of the pie all pretty. What happened with this pie I have no idea, but my fluting was a phenomenal failure. Besides the aesthetic appeal (get it...peel...oh, I'm on a roll tonight), it was a simple, good recipe. It was the apple of 4 mickey eyes (or should I say 2 mickeys since one mickey would have 2 eyes, making 2 mickeys 4 eyes.... oh well, you get the point.)

Pioneer Short Ribs and Pioneer BBQ Sauce

Pioneer Hall - Fort Wilderness Campground Resort

It's always great when you run out of an ingredient in the middle of cooking a recipe...say, ketchup. I filled in the rest with tomato sauce and some salt, but I'm sure it would have been a bit different had I had enough ketchup. Who ever runs out of ketchup? Still, they were good. We decided we like pork ribs better than beef ribs, but it was decent. 3 mickeys to the ribs!

Baked Beans

Pioneer Hall - Fort Wilderness Campground Resort

I decided to have a Fort Wilderness night, so I made ribs (see next post) and baked beans.

It's a simple recipe, but still good none the less. By no means were they the most amazing beans I've ever had, but they were pretty darn good. It all depends on what flavor of baked bean you're looking for. 4 mickeys!

Royal Seafood Newburg

King Stefan's Banquet Hall - Fantasy Land, Magic Kingdom

History: See past posts

Ok, so I'm not a fan of seafood. I do like some fish, especially tilapia. Since I need to make ALL the recipes in the book and I promised myself to try EVERYTHING, I did eat this... and gave Greg the rest of the seafood part. It has shrimp, scallops, and fish in it. It calls for grouper or other white fleshed fish, and since I love tilapia, I substituted the grouper with it. I loved the sauce on the rice. Greg liked all of it. For me (miss anti shell fish) in the future, I would make a tilapia fillet, put it on the rice and pour the sauce over it. It would be just as good I think, but Greg liked all the seafood in it. Overall, we give it 4 mickeys.
