Turkey Chili

Mazie's Pantry
Disneyland Hotel

This was a good turkey chili recipe. Sometimes they are bland but this one was not. It was unique with it's corn and green beans. I would make this again. 4 mickeys.

Beef Sate with Peanut Sauce

Special Events
Disneyland Hotel

Such an easy recipe, and quite good. Here's the kicker. Finding chutney. The recipe doesn't specify what kind of chutney to use. I used a ginger chutney that I found in the ethnic food section at Giant Eagle. It would have been good on chicken too.

Sauce for Oriental Pork Ribs

Tahitian Terrace
Adventureland, Disneyland Park

Note for this recipe that you make the marinade and put it in the fridge overnight. While it doesn't take long to make, you have the take the overnight aspect into consideration with your planning. Overall it was a good recipe, but nothing amazing. It had a hint of sweet flavor to it.

Chicken Dijon Sauce

Special Events
Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resort

This recipe is so easy, and so so good! It was easy to give it 5 mickeys.

Here's the recipe for you:

2/3 C. heavy cream
2/3 C. chicken stock or broth
2 T Dijon Mustard
1/2 t. garlic, minced
1/2 t salt
1/2 t white pepper
1/4 t chives, fresh, chopped

In a heavy skillet, over medium heat, simmer chicken stock for 10 minutes. Reduce liquid by one third. Add heavy cream and simmer for 1 minute over low heat. Add Dijon Mustard, garlic, salt, pepper, and chives and continue to simmer for 2 to 3 minutes more. Serve immediately.

Marinara Sauce

Disney MGM Studios Theme Park

I decided to use this marinara sauce recipe to add to chicken Parmesan on pasta. It sounded very simple and bland, but it was actually fairly flavorful and quite tasty for marinara sauce. We gave it 4 mickeys.

New Orleans BBQ Sauce

Cafe Orleans
New Orleans Square, Disneyland Park

We decided to put this BBQ sauce on some ribs. It was good, but nothing amazing. A basic BBQ really. 3 mickeys.

Madeira Peppercorn Sauce

Garden Gallery
The Disney Inn

I enjoy making the various sauces in this book because I can put them on any meat that I see fit. Most of the time that means chicken, to the dismay of my husband. Regardless, this was best on chicken. It wasn't bad at all, but also wasn't amazing. For that reason, it got an average 3 mickeys.

Frocaccie Bread

Flagler's
Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort

Flagler's was an Italian restaurant that was operated until 1997. In it's place now is Citrico's.

This bread was great. I was highly surprised. It didn't look that good from the outside, but boy did it smell good! We dipped it in an infused oil and it was amazing. I even ate it for bedtime snacks some nights. 4 mickeys!

Eggs Kamehameha

Papeete Bay Verandah
Disney's Polynesian Resort

Wow was this unimpressive. Imagine a cooked egg...on a piece of fried bread. And nothing else. Yep. You got it. The cheese is hardly noticeable and the white wine flavor was missing. Only 2 mickeys. This was kind of gross.

Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise Sauce

Chef Mickey's Village Restaurant
Disney Village Marketplace

The hollandaise sauce on this isn't bad (okay, I admit, I broke it. It would have been better had I done it right). Other than that, it's a basic eggs Benedict...with olives on top. I can't say much more to it that that.

Country Frittata

Grand Floridian Cafe
Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort

Nothing about this recipe is difficult...in fact, anyone could probably come up with it, but it was still tasty.
It's basically an omelet with ham, onion, potatoes, corn, swiss cheese ham, and tomato.

Bran Muffins

Farmers Market
The Land, EPCOT Center

This was an incredibly easy recipe. I liked the muffins, my husband did not. They are not very sweet, but it's a bran muffin. Take it for what it is. They are fairly thick and heavy, so if there was a way to make them fluffier I think they would taste a bit better. Judging them against what they are, they get 4 mickeys.

Bordelaise Sauce

Chefs de France
France, EPCOT

I made this recipe to go on steak, but it would have been great on pork chops or even chicken. It had a great smoky, robust flavor to it, but it wasn't overwhelming. I will make this sauce again. 4 mickeys!

Contemporary French Toast

Concourse Grille
Disney's Contemporary Resort

You can't go wrong with cinnamon sugar French toast. And when you make it from sourdough bread, it becomes even more amazing. There is nothing spectacular about this recipe, but it was good!
4 mickeys!

Pumpkin Creme Brulee

Ariel's
Disney's Beach Club Resort

While it takes a bit of time to make this dessert, it is well worth it. It's not to sweet, and not too doughy. The pastry crust has to be made first, then cooled. Next you make the filling, pour it in, and chill it at least 4 hours. Finally you sprinkle on some sugar and broil it for 2 minutes. Yum!
The pumpkin flavor is there, but not over powering.

Vegetable Lasagna

Tony's Town Square Restaurant
Main Street U.S.A.

Not a bad lasagna. I had to make a few modifications. It called for spinach, tomato, and egg lasagna noodles. I couldn't find tomato ones, so I had to stick with egg and spinach. I also used quick bake noodles (no cooking, just layer it on hard). Other than that I made everything according to the recipe.  Again, it was fairly average, but it took a lot of work. 3 mickeys.

Eggplant Crepes

Victoria and Albert's
Disney's Grand Floridian Beach Resort

I was highly optimistic about this recipe since I do like eggplant parmesan when it is done right. This recipe has tons of different cheeses, so it sounded good. Not so much. It had a strange, dirt like flavor and just didn't taste good at all. The marinara on the top wasn't bad, but the main part was horrid. Only 1 mickey.

Milky Way Cake

Beaches and Cream
Disney's Beach Club Resort

Beaches and cream is a quick serve food and dessert soda shop. While it is still there with the same name, the Milky Way Cake is no longer served there. They do have a milky way sundae and chocolate cake!
When I read the recipe I invisioned a sinfully rich chocolate cake. It isn't. But it's very good. Think banana bread consistency and sweetness with frosting. While it was good, it was an average savory/sweet bread.

Poly Breakfast Pizza Souffle

Papeete Bay Verandah
Disney's Polynesian Resort

This was a weird recipe...a weird flavor...a weird texture. It wasn't bad... no, not bad. I can tell you that the left overs get worse by the day. The only day it tastes okay is when it is fresh made. It's just strange. It's bread, cheese, tomato sauce...and that's it other than herbs. Kinda weird.

Orange Beef

Papeete Bay Verandah
Disney's Polynesian Resort

For this recipe I decided to use better steak. The recipe calls for flank steak but I upgraded it. You can never go wrong with a better cut. The recipe was highly unimpressive. We didn't care much for the coating on the beef. The sauce is good but the recipe doesn't make enough. If you make this I would advise you to just cook the beef without the coating and at least double the sauce recipe.

Soundstage Great Northern Bean Soup

Soundstage Restaurant
Disney-MGM Studios

One of the original restaurants in MGM, check out this info from Walt Dated World:

"This eatery was one of the original restaurants from opening day.  It was themed as a wrap party for the film Big Business and was decorated with movie sets from the Bette Midler/Lily Tomlim film.  Cast Members wore catering costumes.  This first version of the Soundstage Restaurant was a food court with lines for pizza, sandwiches, and soup and salads.
The restaurant was later themed to animated films such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Pocahontas.  There were character breakfasts during the morning.  The building was later used for the Bear in the Big Blue House and Playhouse Disney stage shows."

The soup wasn't bad, but again, another mediocre soup recipe. Great northern beans and ham are the main part of the soup, along with celery, carrots, and onions.

Steak and Bean Soup

Yachtman's Steakhouse
Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Another average soup recipe. Nothing about it was bad, it just wasn't spectacular. The recipe calls for bottom round steak, but if I were you I'd use a higher quality steak. The bottom round was really tough in this recipe because it didn't have enough low temperature cook time to soften up. The whole recipe takes about an hour to cook, not counting cutting everything up. I used canned beans instead of soaking them overnight. It just saved me a little bit of effort. If you do the same, remember to drain and rinse your beans very well.

German Potato Soup (Concourse Grille)

Concourse Grille
Disney's Contemporary Resort

I forgot to take a picture of this soup in a nice bowl, so you get a Tupperware container instead! This was an easy recipe and it wasn't too bad. It was nothing amazing either. Basic recipe - onions, celery, carrots, potatoes, bacon fat, leeks, instant potatoes, and flavorings.

Only 3 mickeys.

Cucumber Yogurt Soup

Garden Yogurt Soup
The Disney Inn

Okay, I was skeptical about this recipe and therefore had avoided making it until recently. I was right. It contains yogurt, a cucumber, white vinegar, olive oil, and various herbs. It's called a soup. It reminds me way more of tzatziki sauce on gyros. NOT a soup. Imagine drinking that sauce. Yep, that's what it was like...except maybe worse. Don't make this. It's nasty.

1 mickey...is generous.

Alphabet Soup

50's Prime Time Café
Disney-MGM Studios

I was very excited about making this recipe. I even made grilled cheese to go with it. Sadly, it tasted like it came out of an aluminum Cambells can...very tin flavored. I expected a homemade flavor, and it wasn't even close. Perhaps it's because it uses canned, crushed tomatoes. I would like to try this again with real tomatoes and see if the flavor gets any fresher.

2 mickeys as is.
